The Sentinals (band)

The Sentinals was founded in 1961, American surf rock band from San Luis Obispo, California. The cast consisted of Tommy Nunes ( guitar ), Peter Graham ( guitar ), Gary Winburne (bass ), John barbata (drums, later with the Turtles, Jefferson Airplane and Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young) and Bobby Holmquist ( sax ). The band did not belong to the first row of the surf - rock bands in the early 1960s. In 1962 year she had a local hit with the piece Latin'ia.

Biography

The Sentinals were established in 1961 in the Californian city of San Luis Obispo, the same city from which came with The Impacts yet another surf rock band that had a contract with the record label Del -Fi Records. Compared to other surf bands in the region of the Sentinals sound had a strong R & B influence. The Sentinals who covered some singing songs like Ooh Poo Pah Doo and Shout. The heavily influenced by Latin American guitar melodies Single Latin'ia from 1962 was their greatest success until the dissolution of the band in 1965.
