The Sports Network

The Sports Network ( TSN ) is a Canadian, English-language TV station based in Toronto. The station is operated by Bell Media and ESPN and broadcasts around the clock exclusively Sports Television. TSN is the strongest spectator sports broadcaster in Canada. Bell Media operates more sports channels like TSN2, TSN Radio 1050, TSN Radio 990, TSN Radio 1290, as well as part-time Canadiens on TSN Jets and on TSN.

History

The station began broadcasting operations on 2 April 1984 and is therefore one of the first private sector broadcasters in Canada. The transmitter was operated under the name Action Canada Sports Network of the Labatt Brewing Company. On September 1, 1984, the station was renamed in The Sports Network. The transmitter should primarily promote the products of the brewery in connection with sporting events. Furthermore, also belonging to the brewery Sportmennaschaft Toronto Blue Jays should be encouraged. 1989 parallel, a second transmitter was started sending in French and is known as the Réseau des sports (RDS).

Because of limitations of the State Inspectorate Canadian Radio -television and Telecommunications Commission ( CRTC ) by the broadcasting licenses were re-assigned, the brewery was forced to sell the station. The station was sold to an investor consortium, NetStar Communications. In 2000, the station was taken over by CTV. 2010 Bell Media took over the station of the CTV.

Program guide and shows

The station broadcasts several times a day to be successful news program Sports Centre with sports results and with the current program announcements. More shows are Off the Record with Michael Landsberg, the motor magazine Motoring, TSN reporter, Pardon the Interruption, Sunday NFL Countdown, as well as other ESPN programs and documentaries.
