The Stone Raft

The Stone Raft (Portuguese Original Title: A Jangada de Pedra ) is a novel from 1986 by José Saramago. The Iberian peninsula separates itself from the rest of Europe. The work has been translated into more than twenty languages ​​and filmed under its original title in 2002 by George Sluizer for the cinema.

The geographical separation is an allusion Saramago's European integration, in which the Iberian countries outside before remained in his view, and not culturally, socially or economically identified with the rest of the continent.
