The Strength / The Sound / The Songs is the debut album by Danish metal band Volbeat. The album was released on 26 September 2005 via Rebel Monster Records. In Denmark, the album was awarded a gold record.

Formation

The album was recorded between July 17 to 28 2004 in Hansen Studios in the Danish town of Ribe. The songs " Pool of Booze, Booze, Booza ", " Soulweeper ", " Danny & Lucy ( 11pm )" and " Alienized " are from the Meat Beat demo, which was also recorded in October 2003 in the Hansen Studio. For the album's five songs have been added. The sixth song of the demos " Boa " was re-recorded for the second album Volbeat Rock the Rebel / Metal the Devil.

Produced and mixed the album was by Jacob Hansen. Actually, the album Rebel Monster should read and appear in " New Aeon Media ", a sub- label of Karmageddon Media. All lyrics were written by Michael Poulsen. The music by Michael Poulsen and Volbeat. " I Only Want to Be with You " was written by Mike Hawker and Ivor Raymonde and a cover version of Dusty Springfield hits from the year 1963., Michael Poulsen and Jon Larsen began one day in the rehearsal room to play the song. The "Fire Song" and " Danny & Lucy ( 11pm ) " act of a young couple. Danny is 28 years old and addicted to drugs, his girlfriend Lucy is 16 years old. In the first song both flee from Lucy's parents. In the second song, the two have an accident with her car. The story continues on the following album Rock the Rebel / Metal the Devil with the song " Mr & Mrs Ness ", the parents of Lucy. The text of " Caroline # 1" consists exclusively of Elvis Presley song titles and is based on the Presley song " Sweet Caroline ". In this way, Michael Poulsen pays tribute to one of his idols tribute. The song " Always, Wu " Poulsen wrote for a friend who almost died from cancer.

The album title has no deeper meaning, according to Poulsen. "The strength" (English: The strength ) stands for the hard work that has made the band. " The Sound " (English: The sound ) is that Volbeat have found their sound. "The songs" (English: The Songs) stands for the listeners can sing along to the songs.

Reception

The German magazine Rock Hard gave the album the maximum score 10 The Strength / The Sound / The Songs sold in Denmark over 5,000 times and reached number 18 of the Danish album charts.
