The Ultraman

The Ultraman (Japaneseザ ★ ウルトラマン, Za Urutoraman ) is an anime television series in 1979. The work of the studio Sunrise is classified in the genres of adventure, action and science fiction. It is an animated remake of the older TV series Ultraman by Eiji Tsuburaya. Other adaptations of the old series were 1983 short film Ultraman Kids, 1987, the Japanese-American film Ultraman: The Adventure Begins, 1990 Ultraman Graffiti, 1996 and 1999 Ultraman Ultraman Company: Love and Peace.

Content

In the future, a much more advanced civilization is discovered living in a different dimension. The so-called " Ultrans " have previously visited the earth, and now the young pilot Hikari is sent to them. There he linked his life with that of a Ultrans and can transform itself from then on by a star on his forehead in Ultraman Joneas (ウルトラマン ジョー ニアス). So he can protect humanity against various monsters and aliens that threaten it.

Production and publication

The series was animated in 1979 Takeyuki Kanda during the Sunrise studio under the direction of first Hisayuki Toriumi then. The artistic direction and the character design is by Tsuneo Ninomiya, the Mechanic design by Kunio Okawara and Shoji Kawamori. Produced the series of TBS and Tsuburaya Productions.

On 25 June 2008, the series in a 10-part DVD box set was released again.

The series was broadcast on April 4, 1979 to March 26, 1980 by TBS in Japan. A Spanish translation was sent by TVE. In the United States came in 1981, the film The Adventures of Ultraman out a compilation of some episodes of the series. A translation of the first four episodes also appeared under the title Ultraman II: The Further Adventures of Ultraman.

The soundtrack to the series comes from Kunio Miyauchi and Tōru Fuyuki.

The opening credits of the series was underlaid with the song Ultraman, was used for the end credits Ai no Yusha - tachi (愛 の 勇者 たち). Both songs were sung by Isao Sasaki, composed by Kunio Miyauchi and written by Yū Aku.

Reception

According to Anime Encyclopedia series offers some of the " glorious silly monster that ever adorned a franchise ." The representation of the transformations Ultra Mans had a bond from the Magical Girl genre in which young girls get through transformations special skills. Together with the earlier television series The Ultraman has influenced many later series and is quoted in this, so Tetsuwan Birdy, Project A- ko, Urusei Yatsura, Patlabor 1 and Doctor Slump.
