The Voice Within

The Voice Within is the fifth and final single from Christina Aguilera's second studio album from Stripped. The song was released in late 2003 and reached number 33 on the Billboard Hot 100, and so the song was Aguilera's eleventh Top 40 hit in the U.S.. Furthermore, the song reached number 9 in the UK, # 3 in Switzerland, # 7 Austria, # 13 in Germany and number 8 in Australia. The song is best known for his black and white music video.

Background

The Voice Within was written by Aguilera and Glen Ballard, and produced by Ballard. The album version of the song ends almost half a minute earlier and blended it with the next song I'm OK.

The original version of the song with a length of 4 minutes and 26 seconds is included on the compilation album Totally Hits 2004.

Aguilera did not want to publish "The Voice Within" as the fifth single. She wanted instead to publish Impossible, a song which is also included on the album Stripped and was produced by Alicia Keys. Aguilera wanted to further strengthen the hip-hop song in the hip- hop scene, this is mainly due to the rapper Lil ' Kim, who was also involved in the work on this album and contributed the rap for Can not Hold Us Down. Aguilera's label RCA Records, however, wanted to release during the summer 2003, a ballad as beautiful before, and decided against Impossible.

The song was selected for the eponymous film, The Voice Within as the theme song.

Music Video

The director for music video by David LaChapelle. The video was shot in a single take without cut in black and white. The video starts with a close up of Aguilera's face, then the camera zooms in and shows Aguilera in petticoat on an empty theater stage sitting. Subsequently, it passes through various rooms of the theater and leaves it eventually. In the end, she lays down on a light box. The camera then on the night sky. The music video was filmed in an abandoned theater in Downtown Los Angeles.

" The Voice Within ' " Aguilera was eleventh music video on TRL. The music video peaked in the TRL charts Place 1 The music video was nominated for three 2004 MTV Video Music Awards, in the categories of Best Female Video, Viewer 's Choice and Best cinematography.
