The Weakerthans

The Weakerthans are an indie rock band from Winnipeg, Canada, is known for its melodic, and lyrically sophisticated post-punk songs with folk influences.

Band History

The band was founded in 1996 by Jason Tait, John P. Sutton and John K. Samson, after the latter had got out as a bass player in the political punk band Propagandhi. In 1997, the first album Fallow was released on G7 Welcoming Committee Records. Only later came the second guitarist Stephen Carroll joined the band. After several tours in Germany, among others, Tomte and Tocotronic, appeared in 2000, the sophomore Left And Leaving, which finally made ​​the band through the relentless touring and promotion readiness to a constant in the indie spectrum. After a three year break including a label change to Epitaph Records (USA) and Burning Heart ( Europe / Asia ) released the album Reconstruction Site, which gave a further breakthrough of the band in September 2003. In August 2004, founding member and bassist John P. Sutton left the band and was replaced by Greg Smith.

In 2006, Greg Smith, Stephen Carroll and Jason Tait participated in the recording of Greg Graffins ( Bad Religion ) second solo album Cold as the Clay. On September 25, 2007 she released the album Reunion Tour in Germany.
