The Weather Network

The Weather Network ( TWN ) is a Canadian English-language television channel, which exclusively broadcasts weather information around the clock. The transmitter is headquartered in Oakville, Ontario and operated by Pelmorex Media Inc.. Pelmorex Media operates one additional French-language weather station, MétéoMédia, which supplies the region around Montreal and Greater Quebec City. Furthermore, radio stations are operated, the report on the current weather situation.

History

The Weather Network started broadcasting its program on 1 September 1988 as WeatherNow. At that time, the station was owned by Lavalin Inc. In the early days there were technical difficulties when they tried to send TWN and the French-language program MétéoMédia with a television signal via an analog transponder of the Canadian Anik satellites. This problem was solved by simultaneously broadcast two signals, which transferred them to the first, the main program and were broadcast on the second regional weather news. On May 1, 1989 WeatherNow was renamed The Weather Channel. 1992 graphical weather charts and weather maps were introduced. On 2 May 1998 the station of Montreal moved to Mississauga, Ontario. 1999, a revised modern website was launched, which was easy to use. The website provided current weather information and weather warnings during severe weather. In November 2005, the stations according to Oakville, a suburb of Toronto moved.

Shipments

Pelmorex employs its own meteorologists, weather analyzes, calculations and predictions perform. Meteorologists use the prediction system Pelmorex Forecast Engine ( PFE), which was developed by Pelmorex. Weather Channel HD

The Weather Network HD is a parallel -operated channel that broadcasts in 1080i HD format. The format was launched on May 30, 2011.

Web and Mobile Services

2001 The Weather Network has launched the Weather Direct service. This sends current traffic and weather information and severe weather warnings to a pre- specified email address.

WeatherEye is an application that was developed by The Weather Network, which is available for both PC and Mac systems, and for smartphones. The application provides current weather information, weather forecasts and severe weather warnings.
