The Woman in Red (Soundtrack)

The Woman in Red by Stevie Wonder is the soundtrack album to the movie The Woman in Red in 1984. Apart from Stevie Wonder and Dionne Warwick sang three songs on the soundtrack.

The album contains the largest with I Just Called to Say I Love You Hit Wonders. The song was honored at the Academy Awards in 1985 as Best Song. As singles were also still decoupled Love Light in Flight and Do not Drive Drunk.

In the U.S. album charts, the album reached number 4 in the UK and 2nd place

Formation

The movie producers had already Dionne Warwick for the soundtrack committed when the labelmates Stevie Wonder asked for some compositions for the film. Seven of the eight compositions are by Wonder, the instrumental It's More Than You came from Ben Bridges, a session musician, working with the Wonder since 1976. The song It's You and Weakness recorded as a duet by Wonder and Warwick, at Momenta Are not Moments Warwick sings alone. Wonder I Just Called used with to Say I Love You is also a song he had written in the late 1970s, which was, however, far remained unpublished. This led after winning the Oscar for best film song controversy, because the award rules state that could only be awarded a title when he was written for the film.

The album was recorded in the Wonderland Studios in Los Angeles and mixed and produced by Wonder along with Gary Olazabal, the Wonder already worked for several years. Published in 1984 by Motown Records as a vinyl LP and Musikcassette, followed by 1987, the publication in the format compact disk

The soundtrack album was certified in November 1984 with a platinum record and the RIAA in February 1985 with a platinum record of the BPI.
