The X- Ray Fiend is a British short film from 1897. Directed by George Albert Smith. The film was released on the film companies George Albert Smith Films, Prestwich Manufacturing Company and the Warwick Trading Company in the UK.

Action

A man flirts with a lady. Meanwhile, enters a man with an X-ray device to them. Finally, the skeletons of the two can be seen. Here, the male skeleton is very intrusive. A little later, the device will disappear and they shooing her importunate suitor.

Background information

The film is a bit older than the French film Les Rayons X by Georges Méliès, which also deals with the discovery of X-rays by Wilhelm Röntgen. For the production of the film the stop trick was used.
