The Young Gods

The Young Gods (English: "The Young Gods" ) is a post - industrial band from Switzerland, founded in Freiburg. The band was at their naming inspired by the song Young God the American band Swans.

The formation was founded in 1985 and is currently (2010) from Franz Treichler (vocals), Al Comet (Sampler ), Bernard Trontin (drums, formerly The Needles ) and Vincent Haenni ( guitar). The music consists mostly of drums, samplers and vocals and guitar by now also, with the type of music from album to album varies greatly. On the album, the band play Weill covert pieces of Kurt Weill from The Threepenny Opera, Rise and Fall of the City of Mahagonny, such as Pirate Jenny and Alabama Song.

In 2006, she played mainly in Switzerland, two special programs: Under the name "Play Woodstock " they played together with the singer Erika Stucky songs from the concert film Woodstock and demonstrated to original images from the film. She also played in "Unplugged" concerts with acoustic guitars and percussion and melodica.

Most published until 2007 albums and " Everybody Knows " from 2010, produced by Roli Mosimann Swiss (The The, Faith No More, Marilyn Manson, New Order, Nerve ).

Effect

Within its genre, the Young Gods have reached a relatively high level of awareness. They are known for example from Mike Patton ( Faith No More), Devin Townsend, Nine Inch Nails and Ministry as a formative influence.

Solo projects

All three musicians are also pursuing solo projects: Franz Treichler has composed music for dance pieces by choreographer Gilles Jobin. Al Comet comes to solo with sitar and released several solo albums. Bernard Trontin works primarily with jazz musicians such as Pierre Favre. He published under the name Trontin -jones in November 2006 an album together with Simon Huw Jones, the lead singer of the English band And Also The Trees.
