Théâtre Nanterre-Amandiers

The Théâtre des Amandiers is a theater in Nanterre and one of the most famous Parisian suburb stages.

History

The theater was built from the Festival de Nanterre, which was first held in 1965 in a circus tent. Installed in 1966 in the University of Paris- Nanterre, it received in 1971 as a Centre National de Nanterre dramatique state recognition and funding from the budget.

In 1976, the Culture House ( Maison de la Culture ) was inaugurated as the seat of the theater. In 1982 it was renamed the Théâtre des Amandiers. The line took over Patrice Chéreau and Catherine Tasca. Caused a stir a staging of Schnitzler piece The Vast by Luc Bondy and the performance of a stage version of Celine 's novel Journey to the End of the Night by André Engel.

The theater also houses a film studio and a drama school in connection with the study of Theatre Studies at the University of Nanterre. From 1990 to 2001 led Jean -Pierre Vincent theater. From 1991 to 2001, Georges Aperghis was busy with his group L' BREATH as a representative of musical theater. In 2002, Jean -Louis Martinelli took over the theater management. On 1 January 2014, Philippe Quesne will succeed him.
