Theatre of Tragedy

Theatre of Tragedy was a Norwegian band from Stavanger, founded in 1993.

History

In 1995, she released her first, self-titled album. It is characterized by the combination of deep male vocal grunts and clean female vocals.

The album, published in 1996 Velvet Darkness They Fear included the club hit the dance of the shadows and became one of the most successful gothic metal albums of its time.

On the album, published in 1998 Aégis first appeared on electronic elements that reinforced on the successor Musique. Aégis away already from the genre of gothic metal towards dark rock, while Musique represented a sharp break in the style of Theatre of Tragedy toward synth rock and electronica.

The initiated by the pre-album style change continued in 2002, continued with the assembly. This album hardly stood in a recognizable connection with the stylistic origins of the band. Thus, the band went to pursue our goal of musical development further, although this was taken critical of the earlier fans.

In 2003, the band parted from her singer Liv Kristine after they recently formed her own band Leaves' Eyes, together with the members of Atrocity.

In spring 2006, Theatre of Tragedy, published with their new singer Nell Sigland ( singer of the band The Crest ) their sixth studio album Storm, which again drove back the electronic elements slightly and according to the band musically as the missing link between Aégis and Musique is to be seen.

On 18 September 2009, the seventh and final studio album, Forever Is the World ( Europe on September 21, in Japan on October 21, in Russia on October 26 and in North America on October 27 ) was published in Germany, Austria and Switzerland.

Early 2010 were Theatre of Tragedy " big changes " for the New Year known. A little later she announced with Addenda for early March on an EP that was included with the tour album in a limited edition of 2,000 copies.

On March 1, 2010 Theatre of Tragedy was officially announced on their website that they will be resolved in early October 2010. This was due to increasing problems, family and work to reconcile. The last tour was still carried out as planned - they began on 12 March in Berlin and ended on March 20 in Lisbon. After a few more concerts in the summer of 2010 the band broke up, as planned, after their last concert on October 2, 2010 in Stavanger - exactly 17 years after its founding.
