Thelma Aoyama
Thelma Aoyama (Japanese青山 テルマ; Aoyama Teruma ) ( born October 27, 1987 in Yamatotakada, Nara Prefecture, Japan ) is a Japanese pop and R & B singer. Her grandfather father's side is from Trinidad and Tobago.
Life and career
For six years, Thelma visited the Osaka International School as a student. At age 12, she moved with her family to Torrance, California, where she lived for two years and the Calle Mayor Middle School visited. Only in the winter of 2002, she moved back to Japan and then lived in Tokyo. Here she attended the American School in Japan, and since 2010 a student of Sophia University.
Her first musical experience she gained by recorded a collaboration with DS455 and the single Summer Paradise: Risin 'to tha ' Sun published. The single reached number 46 on the Oricon charts in its first week. On 5 September 2007 Thelma solo debut with their first single One Way, but the single only reached number 98 on the charts. Two weeks later she was then a collaboration with J- Soul and SoulJa, published together Koko ni Iru yo the single (Jap.ここ に いる よ) and landed in the third week of sales at No. 6 on the charts. In addition, the single managed to sell more than 100,000 times.
Four months later, she was another collaboration with SoulJa and published together Soba ni Iru their second single ne (Japaneseそば に いる ね). The single stayed 51 weeks in the charts, landed in the second week of sales at # 1; she was able to sell more than 465,000 times, making it her most successful recordings. In addition, the song is the most successful digital single in Japan with more than 8.7 million legal downloads (as of November 2008).
She also released her debut album, which she called Diary, on 26 March 2008 and ended in the first week at No. 3 on the charts, with 116 453 units sold. After 48 weeks, Charts stay the album sold nearly 374,000 times.
On February 11, 2009, she released her first compilation album, under the name of Love: Thelma Love Song Collection, and unexpectedly landed the compilation on the peak position on the charts. On the compilation, which has only nine titles, among others is also a cover of American music legend Janet Jackson, Again, exist. Could sell the compilation up to 100,000 times.
With time, however, their popularity declined, thus their sales figures and she tried on new collaborations. Among other things, published on January 27, 2010, Single Fall in Love, a collaboration with the South Korean singer Taeyang ( from the group Bigbang ).
