Theodemir

Thiudimir († 474) was a king of the Ostrogoths and the father of Theodoric the Great. He belonged to the family of the Amali, and had called an older brother named Valamir and a younger the Vidimir.

Byzantine sources name as the father of Theodoric the better known Valamir, the older brother Thiudimirs. The reason is probably that this relatively long ruler of the Ostrogoths in Pannonia was while Thiudimir followed his older brother for only four years on the throne and Theodoric initially inherited the heritage loose Valamir, in the sub realm. It is true that Thiudimir Theodoric was the father. Thiudimir was Arian, while Theodoric Erelieva mother was a Catholic. It is called Thiudimirs " concubina ", which could potentially have the religious difference, or even an ethnic difference as a background. Thiudimir took over after the death Valamir the three Pannonian Gothic kingdoms while Valamir kingdom in the lower part of Slavonia was transferred to Theodoric.

In the year 473 left Thiudimir and his son Theodoric Pannonia and moved their kingdom to Macedonia, where Thiudimir died in the year 474.
