Theodor Döhler

Theodor Dohler (* April 20, 1814 in Naples, † February 21, 1856 in Florence ) was a German composer and pianist.

Life

Döhlers father († 1843 in Lucca ) Regiment was Kapellmeister in Naples. He received his first musical education by acting in Naples conductor Julius Benedict and has already resulted in 13 years of public concerts in Naples. In 1827, he followed them by Lucca father there. From 1829 to 1834 Theodor Dohler studied in Vienna. Here he received his piano studies from Beethoven's pupil Carl Czerny. At the same time he was taught by Simon Sechter in composition. Already in 1832 he played in the Vienna Musikverein works by Czerny and Beethoven.

In the same year he was appointed chamber virtuoso from Charles II Ludwig ( Parma). In December 1834 he played in Naples works of Friedrich Kalkbrenner. The years 1836-1845 he spent almost constantly on tour in the states of the German Confederation, in France, England, Russia and the Netherlands. In 1838 he gave his first concert in London. This art trips were interrupted by the death of his father, who had called him back to Italy in 1843.

Baronisiert 1846 by the Duke of Lucca, he married the Countess Elizabeth Scheremetewa (Elise Scheremetjeff, 1818-1890 ), whom he had met at a 1845 trip to Russia. In 1847 he played at the Paris Conservatory. He was not 42 years old.
