Theodor Goldstücker

Theodor Goldstücker ( born January 18, 1821 in Königsberg ( Prussia); † March 6, 1872 in London ) was a German Sanskrit researchers.

Life

Theodor Goldstücker devoted himself since 1836 at the University of Königsberg, 1838-1840 philological at the University of Bonn and orientalist and philosophical studies. He later went to Paris, where he explored the local rich Sanskrit manuscripts. 1846 returned Goldstücker back to Germany and lived a long time in Berlin.

1850 Goldstücker went to London, where he was through the mediation of Horace Hayman Wilson in 1851 professor of Sanskrit at the University of London. Wilson at the same time gave him a new edition of his Sanskrit Dictionary.
