Theodor Piderit

Theodor PIDERIT ( born September 15, 1826 in Detmold, † January 24, 1912 in Detmold ) was a German writer.

Life

PIDERIT studied since 1846 Medicine in Göttingen, Heidelberg and Berlin. Since 1847 he was a member of the Corps Saxonia Göttingen. Through the political situation in the pre-March marketed PIDERIT went to Valparaiso, where he has long worked as a doctor. From 1863 he lived again in Detmold and Bielefeld as a writer.

About his journey and his time as a general practitioner in Valparaíso PIDERIT has reported several times. Thus, in the written in diary form book from the port of Bremen to Valparaiso. September 21, 1850 - January 15, 1851 and has experienced and thought up of ancient and modern times. Here he talks about his journey across Panama, New Orleans, Baltimore and Boston to an intermediate stay in his home town of Detmold and Bielefeld where he married Anna Rose on September 1, 1860. About this relationship, the painter Theodor Mintrop has recorded the album for Minna in drawings. The data transmitted from the Sütterlin letters to his father from Valparaíso complete his image of young doctor in a foreign country in Nachmarz. It is also clear why it withdrew it in 1863 with his wife and children in his native town of Detmold.
