Theodor Strünck

Theodor Struenck ( born April 7, 1895 in Pries, † April 9, 1945 in Flossenbiirg ) was a German jurist and resistance fighter of the 20th July 1944.

Life

Theodor Struenck studied law and received his doctorate in 1924 at the University of Rostock. Then the lawyer in the insurance industry worked, towards the end as insurance director. At first he sympathized with the Nazis, but then went to the "seizure of power " due to the dwindling rule of law in opposition to the regime.

1937, the captain of the reserve was drafted and used in official foreign / defense of the High Command of the Wehrmacht under Hans Oster. He had close contact with Carl Goerdeler and organized meetings of the resisters in his apartment.

Theodor Struenck was arrested after the attack on 20 July 1944 on August 1. On August 24, he was the formed on 2 August 1944 " Court of Honor " discharged dishonorably from the armed forces, so that the Reich Court Martial for the trial was no longer in charge, and on October 10, 1944 by the "People's Court ", meanwhile, President Roland freisler sentenced to death. Later he was transferred to the concentration camp Flossenbiirg, where he was hanged on April 9, together with Dietrich Bonhoeffer, Wilhelm Canaris, Ludwig runaway, Hans Oster and Karl Sack.

In the vicinity of the execution site Plotzensee in Berlin -Charlottenburg the Strünckweg was named after him.
