Theodore Lyman

Theodore Lyman ( born November 23, 1874 in Boston, Massachusetts, † October 11, 1954 in Cambridge, Massachusetts ) was an American physicist.

Lyman was educated at Harvard, where he taught as a professor from 1921. In 1906 he discovered the spectral series named after him ( the Lyman series ) of the hydrogen atom. In 1970, the International Astronomical Union named in his honor a lunar crater after him.
