Theophilus Cibber

Theophilus Cibber (* November 26, 1703, † 1758) was an English actor and writer, whose work Lives of the Poets of Great Britain and Ireland, to the Time of Dean Swift (1753 ) until today is his most famous work, although his authorship was controversial already in his lifetime. Samuel Johnson wrote it in part to Robert Shiels. Other parts of the text taken from older works by Gerard Langbaine and Giles Jacob.
