Therese Malten

Therese Malten ( born June 21, 1853 in Insterburg (today Tschernjachowsk ) as Therese Müller, † January 2, 1930 in Dresden) was a German singer (soprano ).

Life

Therese Malten received an education in the University of Dramatic in Gdansk and Berlin. From 1873 until her farewell to the stage in 1903 she was Royal Saxon chamber singer at the Dresden Court Opera. Her debut was as Pamina in The Magic Flute. She has appeared in nearly all European opera houses. In 1882 she was chosen by Richard Wagner, Kundry in Parsifal in Bayreuth to sing.

Resident had Malten 1893-1930 in Kleinzschachwitz - Zschieren near Dresden. The location on the River Elbe (opposite Schloss Pillnitz ) villa was built by Bruno Müller in the style of Neo - Renaissance. In the elaborately renovated villa now houses a small pension.

Therese Malten supported orphans, war victims and others in need.

She was a long -time partner of the Austrian philosopher, literary and music critic Helene von Druskowitz.

Therese Malten was buried in the Trinity Cemetery in Dresden. In Dresden Therese- Malten Street remembers it.
