Thesenvitz is a neighborhood of Bergen auf Rügen in the district of Vorpommern - Rügen in Mecklenburg- Vorpommern.

Geography and transport

Thesenvitz is about five kilometers north- west of Bergen auf Rügen, Rügen in north central ground moraine of Duwenbeek, the only major streams on Rügen. The district Ramitz is right on the main road 30 from Bergen to Gingst. The Federal Highway 96 and the railroad Stralsund - Sassnitz spread east of Thesenvitz.

History

The place name is of Slavic. " Tesenovici " means as much as "people of the Tesen " and suggests the local founders.

The place was until 1326 part of the Principality of Rügen and then the Duchy of Pomerania. With the Peace of Westphalia of 1648 Rügen was and thus the area of Thesenvitz a part of Swedish Pomerania. In 1815 Thesenvitz came as part of Neuvorpommern the Prussian province of Pomerania.

Since 1818 Thesenvitz belonged to the circle or district Rügen. Only in the years 1952 to 1955 it was the county mountains belong. The village belonged until 1990 to Rügen county in the district of Rostock and in the same year part of Mecklenburg- Vorpommern. The 1990 re- designated as the Rügen was 2011 in the district of Vorpommern - Rügen.

On 1 January 2011 the then independent municipality was amalgamated with the districts Thesenvitz, Lipsitz, Ramitz and Ramitz settlement to Bergen on Rügen. The municipality had an area of 9.65 km ² and 399 inhabitants (as at 31 December 2009). Prior to incorporation, the municipality was administered by the Office Bergen auf Rügen, located in the eponymous city.

Coat of arms

The coat of arms was adopted in early 1989 by the local council and registered under No. 102 of the coat of arms role of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern.
