Thiago Alves (tennis)

Thiago Alves Hernández ( May 22nd, 1982 in São José do Rio Preto ) is a Brazilian tennis player.

Life and career

Alves is mainly on the ATP Challenger Tour successfully. In individual, he won seven titles so far, in a double three. His debut on the ATP World Tour he gave in 2001 in Costa do Sauipe, but retired in the 1st round. The first victory at World Tour level, he won only in 2006, when he beat Tomas Behrend in the opening round in Newport in two sets. At Grand Slam tournaments him several times succeeded in gaining the second round.

In the world rankings were his best positions Rank 88 in a single 13 July 2009 and 151 in double rank 30 October 2006.

In 2008, he was first and so far the only time nominated for the Brazilian Davis Cup team. He came in two separate meetings of the World Group Relegation game against Croatia to use, but lost both games. Brazil lost the match with 1:4.
