Thierry Claveyrolat

Thierry Claveyrolat ( born March 31, 1959 in La Tronche, Rhône -Alpes; † 7 September 1999 Vizille near Grenoble ) was a French cyclist and was considered a climbing specialist, which earned him the nickname Eagle of Vizille.

Thierry Claveyrolat was a seven-time participant in the Tour de France and won 1990 for the team RMO the jersey of the best climber. His best finish there was the 17th place in the overall standings in 1986.

As part of a trial against 19 North French racing driver in Laon in October 1986 Claveyrolat admitted the forbidden use of amphetamines.

On September 7, 1999, Grenoble, he took in Vizille life, after he had been four weeks earlier, involved in a car accident with four seriously injured. Earlier, he had been suffering from severe depression.
