Thirteen (roller coaster)

Thirteen (often also written TH13TEEN ) at Alton Towers ( Alton, Staffordshire, United Kingdom) is a family roller coaster manufacturer Intamin, which was opened on 20 March 2010. It was built on the spot where once occupied by the Corkscrew roller coaster.

The designers Candy Holland Merlin Studios and John Wardley put the design on some effects and other elements which are intended to produce psychological fear the passenger. Thus they created the name Psycho Aster. Thirteen was therefore applied ( " scariest roller coaster in the world" ) in advance of the opening of the park as " angsterregendste rollercoaster in the world ." During the construction of the railway in the previous topic was " Ug -Land" transformed into the "Dark Forest" ( Dark Forest ). The existing sales transactions were painted with darker colors and with artificial roots that seem to have grown out of the ground, decorated. The launch coaster " Rita - Queen of Speed" was renamed " Rita" and their station and trains were redesigned accordingly. For construction and design of the park has invested about 15 million pounds.

The theme of the "Dark Forest" continues in the waiting area and in the station of Thirteen. The station is dimly lit and dark music to attune the visitors on the ride. The trains have 5 cars each for 4 people in two rows, the passengers are secured by lap bar. After leaving the station, the trains run a small descent down into a left turn. This is followed by a height of 21 m reach lift hill with friction drive. At the lift hill, a steep first descent of 20 m joins. There are some small airtime hill ( Bunnyhops ) and curves through a wooded area before the train in a building in the dark comes to a halt. The rail sags vertically several meters in a framed as a tomb room down. After the fall of the train is accelerated backwards through a dark tunnel. After another stop outside again, the train after a journey of about two minutes back forward into the station.
