Thomas Alexander Browne

Rolf Boldrewood, actually Thomas Alexander Browne ( born August 6 1826 in London, † March 11, 1915 ) was an Australian writer. He also appeared as squatters and officials in the public service in appearance.

His most famous novel was Robbery under Arms. At the beginning of this novel, the narrator Dick Marsden expects his execution, with which he is to be punished for crimes from his time as a Ranger in the Australian bush. It tells the story of his life and his love relationships and talks about his connection with Harry Redford, known as the infamous Captain Starlight. Some of the exploits based on a true story, where the real people Daniel Morgan, Ben Hall, Frank Gardiner and John Gilbert were involved.

This so-called " ripping yarn" has remained popular in Australia since its first publication in book form in 1888 and was filmed three times, as well as broadcast on the radio as a series.
