Thomas Anderson (botanist)
Thomas Anderson ( born February 26, 1832 in Edinburgh, † October 26, 1870 ) was a Scottish botanist. Its official botanical author abbreviation is " T.Anderson "; earlier was also the symbol " T. Anders. " In use.
Anderson worked as a surgeon in India. From 1860 to 1868, he was director of the Botanical Garden Calcutta. He was also the first " Conservator of Forests " in Bengal, where he also collected plants. In 1861 he undertook a collecting trip to Java and the Malay Peninsula.
In 1868 he returned ill back to Scotland and devoted himself to work on the family of the Acanthaceae ( Acanthaceae ). Anderson died in 1870 in Edinburgh.
