Thomas Bell Monroe

Thomas Bell Monroe ( born October 7, 1791 in Albemarle County, Virginia; † December 24, 1865 in Pass Christian, Mississippi ) was an American politician. He was a distant cousin of the 5th U.S. President James Monroe.

Monroe 1816 held a seat in the House of Representatives from Kentucky. He then held the post of Secretary of State in Kentucky 1823-1824. He was also from 1833 to 1834 worked as a federal prosecutor in Kentucky. Then he held from 1834 to 1861 a post as a U.S. district judge in Kentucky. After his home state of Kentucky decided to secession, he represented those State 1861-1862 in the Provisional Konföderiertenkongress.
