Thomas Crecquillon

Thomas Crecquillon ( date and place unknown; † 1557 probably in Béthune ) was a Franco- Flemish musicians.

About the lives Crécquillons is practically nothing is known. The details of his birth vary between about 1480 and about 1505. Maybe he was choir director at the court of the Emperor Charles V.. From his more than 200 songs, more than 100 motets, twelve masses and other sacred works have survived. He is considered one of the most important Flemish composer of the generation after Josquin Desprez.
