Thomas Daniel Schlee

Thomas Daniel Schlee ( born October 26, 1957 in Vienna) is an Austrian composer, organist and cultural managers.

Life and work

Thomas Daniel Schlee studied at the Vienna Music Academy with Michael Radulescu and Erich Romanovsky. He earned a doctorate in musicology and art history at the University of Vienna. 1977-1978 Schlee was in the composition class of Olivier Messiaen in Paris, and studied privately with the composer and organist Jean Langlais. After his return to Austria, he also studied with the English, who teaches in Austria composer Francis Burt.

Schlee taught among others at the Vienna Academy of Music and the University of Salzburg.

His career as a music manager, he began at the International Bruckner Festival in Linz between 1990 and 1998, at the International Beethoven Festival in Bonn from 1999 to 2003. In 2004 he became the manager of the Carinthian Summer.

As a composer Schlee wrote works in all genres. As an organist he made many recordings, with whom he also achieved prices ( Diapason d'Or Prize of the German Record Critics' Award ).
