Thomas Fehlmann

Thomas Fehlmann ( born 1957 in Zurich ) is a Swiss electronic musician and producer.

Life and work

From 1976 to 1980 he studied art at the Hamburg College of Art. In 1979 he met Robert Fripp and began experimenting with synthesizers. The following year he founded with Holger Hiller NDW band Palais Schaumburg, which stayed together until 1984. After their separation Fehlmann moved to Berlin, and built a professional home studio. His first self -produced Maxi published Fehlmann 1985 under the name of readymade with the British Mute Records sub- label Rhythm King.

In order to promote the emerging electronic music, founded Fehlmann 1988 the record label Teutonic Beats, published among other information, Moritz von Oswald, Wolfgang Voigt and Westbam.

In 1990 he began his collaboration ( as a floating member) with The Orb. He also became increasingly known as a producer, remixer and DJ. He became a stalwart in the Berlin techno club Tresor and also the connected label Tresor Records. Under the project name 3MB he worked with Juan Atkins, Blake Baxter, Eddie Flashin ' Fowlkes and other techno sizes from Detroit.

From 1995 Fehlmann developed together with Gudrun Gut the DJ Project Ocean Club and since 1997 the radio program Radio Ocean Club. It was followed by productions and remixes, inter alia, Erasure and Klaus Schulze, and his own albums: 1998 Good Fridge, 1999 Overflow 99 (both on R & S Records ), 2002 Visions Of Blah on Kompakt, 2004 Low Flow (on Plug Research in Los Angeles ), 2007 Honey Pump (on compact ) and Manual ( 21st Records) and in 2010 Good air (Compact).

2011 Fehlmann involved in the reunion of Palais Schaumburg.
