Thomas Füri

Füri Thomas ( born July 22, 1947 in Bern ) is a Swiss violinist and was a teacher at the Academy of Music Basel.

He studied music with his father Erich Füri and Max Rostal at the Academy of Music Bern. He completed his studies with Ivan Galamian at the Juilliard School in New York. From 1973 to 1980 he was concertmaster in Koblenz, Lausanne and Basel. From 1979 to 1993 he was director of the chamber music orchestra Camerata Bern. From 1980 to 1991 he was a lecturer at the music academies Winterthur and Zurich. From 1985 he was violinist in the I Salonisti. and working with them, together with the film Titanic. He was awarded the Music Prize of the Canton of Bern in 1993. Since 2000 he plays with the Aria Quartet.

He plays on a violin by Giovanni Battista Guadagnini in 1761.
