Thomas Hauser (footballer)

Thomas Hauser ( born April 10, 1965 in Schopfheim ) is a former German football player.

Career

His footballing career started Thomas Hauser at SV Schopfheim. But at a young age he joined the FC Basel and first played in the A- Juniors, with whom he was Swiss champion and top scorer.

Hauser played with 17 years fanion team of Red - Blue. Overall, he scored 30-40 goals for FC Basel in Championship and Cup competitions. He won with FC Basel in 1983 the Uhrencup, in the semi-final against FC Grenchen he scored a goal. After a tumultuous time in the then financially starving FC Basel and the descent in 1988 in the National League B Hauser moved to BSC Old Boys Basel. There he played a little more than a year.

During the 1989/90 season Hauser moved to Sunderland AFC in the Football League Second Division ( the then second highest division in English football ). His debut in England he gave on February 25, 1989 in a 2-0 home win against Hull City and he scored his first goal on 15 April 1989 at the away game at 2-2 at Oldham Athletic. At the end of the season, Sunderland AFC rose to the Football League First Division. By the end of 1991, he played for Sunderland in a total of 65 games, including 54 league games.

At the end of his football career playing in Holland at Hauser SC Cambuur - Leeuwarden, but after just two games, he had an injury to the professional sports cease.

Personal

Thomas Hauser is married and has one daughter. His father is Helmuth Hauser and this scored from the penalty spot in the Swiss Cup final in 1967 for FC Basel against FC Lausanne-Sport the decisive goal to make it 2-1. This game was one for the sit-in in the football history.

Thomas Hauser lived temporarily in Holland and worked as a scout for Celtic Glasgow. He's since June 27, 2012 together with Louis Crayton (ex - Bayern goalkeeper) at BSC Old Boys Basel worked as a youth coach of the U-14 team.
