Thomas Henry Dale

Thomas Henry Dale ( born June 12, 1846 in Daleville, Lackawanna County, Pennsylvania, † August 21, 1912 ) was an American politician. Between 1905 and 1907 he represented the State of Pennsylvania in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Career

Thomas Dale attended the public schools of his home and then the Wyoming Seminary in Kingston. During the Civil War he joined the army of the Union in 1863. After his military service, he went into the coal mining business. He was also active in Scranton in various other sectors of the economy. He founded the local Chamber of Commerce and was for several years its president. Politically, he was a member of the Republican Party. For a year he was the district chairman in Lackawanna County. In June 1896 he was a delegate attended the Republican National Convention in St. Louis, was nominated on the William McKinley as a presidential candidate.

In the congressional elections of 1904 Dale was in the tenth electoral district of Pennsylvania in the U.S. House of Representatives in Washington DC chosen, where he became the successor of William Connell on March 4, 1905. Since he has not been confirmed in 1906, he was able to complete only one term in Congress until March 3, 1907. After his time in the U.S. House of Representatives Dale president of the company Anthracite Trust Co. was based in Scranton. He died on 21 August 1912 in his birthplace of Daleville and was buried in Scranton.
