Thomas Loebb

Loebb Thomas ( born July 11, 1957 in Gelsenkirchen- Buer ) is a former German water polo player.

Loebb began at the ASC Duisburg with the water polo and was there several times German Youth Champion. In 1977 he moved to Berlin and played ten years for water Spandau Spandau With 04 he won nine German championship title; 1982, 1984 and 1985 won the team in the European Cup of Champions.

Thomas Loebb debuted in 1975 in the German national team, finishing with the German team to sixth place in the World Cup in Cali. Then Loebb paused to make the national team at his high school. Starting in 1977, the defensive organizer was ten years a regular in the German team. In 1978 he occupied at the World Championships in Berlin with the German team to seventh place. In 1981, the team won the European title in 1982 occupied the German team to third place at the World Championships. At the 1984 Olympics in Los Angeles, the German water polo players were among the favorites. By winning the bronze medal behind the Yugoslavs and the American hosts, they succeeded in the only Olympic medal win after 1945. 1985 yet was followed by a bronze medal at the European Championships.

After Loebb be studying sport broke off because of a sports injury, he attended the School of Journalism Axel Springer. From 1988 Loebb was three sports editor at the tabloid, he joined the Berliner Kurier, in which he is since 1996 Head of Sport.
