Thomas Mesereau

Thomas Arthur Mesereau, Jr. ( born in 1950 in West Point, in the State of New York, USA) is an American lawyer. He is now considered one of the best known and most respected lawyers in the USA.

The son of a member of the U.S. Army, among others grew in the state of New Jersey. He originally wanted to be a journalist; after graduating from Harvard University and the London School of Economics, he studied law at Hastings Colle in San Francisco. During his studies, he was also an amateur boxer. His law firm Collins, Mesereau, Reddock & Yu LLP has its headquarters in Los Angeles, California in the district of Century City on Santa Monica Boulevard. He specializes in criminal law processes in federal and state courts.

Internationally known Mesereau was in 2004, when he was in the process took over the defense of the pop musician Michael Jackson to the accusation of child abuse along with Susan Yu. On 13 June 2005 he finally reached for his client an acquittal on all counts, as Mesereau could shake the credibility of the witnesses for the prosecution successfully. However, he was criticized for that he wanted to invite a host of celebrities as witnesses in court to save the good name of Jackson.

Among his other famous mandates included also the professional boxer Mike Tyson and actor Robert Blake.

Tom Mesereau comes from a military family with, inter alia, Irish ancestors and is a regular churchgoer. He has obtained acquittals of African Americans in Alabama and Mississippi, which faced the death penalty. Mesereau issued free of charge legal assistance for the poor in Los Angeles and has it also established its own organization. His diplomatic but determined and confident appearance in court has earned him much respect. He also regularly lectures, among others at universities.

Mesereau is divorced and since 2005, a relationship with the African-American Minnnie Fox. He lives in Los Angeles.
