Thomas Platter the Younger

Thomas Platter the Younger ( born July 24, 1574 Basel, † December 4, 1628 ibid ) was a botanist and physician, and an autobiographical writer.

The Son of Thomas Platter of elders from his second marriage was educated, like his half-brother Felix Platter, which emerged from the first marriage of his father, in Montpellier in 1614 professor of anatomy and botany, 1624 of medicine at the University of Basel, whose dean and he was Rector multiple times. At the same time he also served as city physician.

In its culturally and historically significant description of its England tour in 1599 he provided a detailed description of the London theater scene.

His son Felix Platter (1605-1671) was professor of logic and physics and wrote various astronomical writings.
