Thomas Tuchel

Thomas Tuchel ( born August 29, 1973 in Krumbach, Günzburg ) is a former German football player and current football coach. The defender spent several successful years as a coach in the youth field, before he was promoted in August 2009 to coach the professional team of 1 FSV Mainz 05.

Career

Player

Tuchel began under the guidance of his father playing football with TSV Krumbach and changed in 1988 in the youth of FC Augsburg. On the side of Harald Gfreiter he won in 1991 and 1992 with FC Augsburg DFB Junior Club Cup. In 1992, he joined the Stuttgarter Kickers and came to eight games in the 2nd Bundesliga. After he had not come in the following season in the first team to use, he left the club from Degerloch towards Ulm. For the SSV Ulm 1846 Tuchel ran on in the Regionalliga Süd in the following years. After he had, among others, under coach Ralf Rangnick is owned by three years for stem formation in the defensive line, he had to end his career early due to a cartilage injury in the climb to the 2nd Bundesliga.

Coach

After Tuchel had temporarily been studying sports science and English parallel to the football career, this double burden but not stopped, he took after retiring from active football a degree in Economics, from which he graduated with a diploma and eventually moved in 2000 to the dugout. VfB Stuttgart until 2004, he coached the U15 team before he aufrückte as an assistant coach for the U19 team of VfB. With the team he won the 2005 championship title of A-Juniors Bundesliga. Then he returned to FC Augsburg, where he was also active as a coach and director of youth development center in youth work.

2006 graduated Tuchel training for soccer coach, which he completed with an overall score of 1.4. On 1 July 2008 he transferred to 1 FSV Mainz 05 to replace the assistant coach to all professionals engaged Jürgen Kramny in the A- youth of the club. With the youth team he won the 2009 championship title at the A- juniors.

Since 3 August 2009 Tuchel coach of the senior team of Mainz was 05 His predecessor Jørn Andersen was dismissed after a Cup defeat and internal inconsistencies. In the 2010/11 season Tuchel with his team a then- league record run of seven successive victories.

When his mentor Tuchel called the Hermann died in 2009 Badstuber, father of Bayern defender Holger Badstuber.
