Thomas William Lyster

Thomas William Lyster (* 1855, † 1922) was a director of the Irish National Library in Dublin from 1895 until his retirement in 1920.

He was employed in 1878 in the National Library, translated in 1883 Heinrich Düntzers Goethe's life into English and was editor of a textbook about poetry, called Intermediate School Anthology.

Lyster was a member of the Church of Ireland and James Joyce, by his person as a template for the " Quäkerbibliothekar " in his novel Ulysses.
