Thorsten Leibenath

Thorsten Leibenath ( born April 7, 1975 in Leverkusen ) is a German basketball coach. After three seasons as a coach in the German Basketball Bundesliga, he is since May 2011 Trainer of ratiopharm Ulm in the Basketball Bundesliga. He is since 2000, holders of Class A coaching license.

As a player Leibenath began his basketball career at the German record champions Bayer Giants. In 1993 he moved to Hesse to TV 1860 Lich, where in 1998 he took over the post of assistant coach after his playing career. Two years later brought him casting as assistant to Joe Whelton.

Parallel to the work as a trainer Leibenath worked since 2004 for the German Basketball Federation and assumes, among others, the scouting of opposing players.

In 2006, Leibenath for one season to the Scottish Rocks in the British Basketball League. There he was awarded, among others, with the title "Coach of the Month" in March. After his brief involvement in Scotland he returned to Giessen and received a three -year contract as head coach of the 46ers.
