Three-banded Warbler

The Cajamarcawaldsänger ( Basileuterus trifasciatus ) is a small passerine bird in the family of warblers ( Parulidae ).

Cajamarcawaldsänger reach a body length of 12-13 centimeters. The wing length in males from 5.4 to 5.9 inches, 5.5 inches in the female. Adult Cajamarcawaldsänger and fledglings from the first year wearing an olive top feathers and a yellow underside plumage. The nominate Basileuterus t. trifasciatus has a gray crown stripe, black crest side strips and a wide gray white Superciliarstreifen, which runs down to the neck. The coat is grayish; the throat and breast feathers light gray. The subspecies Basileuterus t. nitidior differs from the nominate subspecies by the often existing in breeding plumage yellow crown stripe and the less intensely stained, gray coat.

The distribution area extends from Ecuador to Peru. Cajamarcawaldsänger live in pairs or in small groups, rain forests, forest edges and thickets on the banks at altitudes of 500 to 2000 meters.

There are two recognized subspecies:

  • Basileuterus trifasciatus trifasciatus Taczanowski, 1880 - Northwestern Peru ( From Piura to La Libertad )
  • Basileuterus trifasciatus nitidior Chapman, 1924 - northwestern Peru and southwestern Ecuador ( El Oro From up to Loja )
