Three Hummock Island

Three Hummock Iceland ( German "Three Hill Island" ) is a 70 km ² island in the western part of the Bass Strait between Victoria and Tasmania. It is located northeast of Iceland Hunter near the north west coast of Tasmania and is the highest point 237 m high.

Long before the Europeans discovered the island that aboriginal hunting in the summer on the island. They had to overcome floating 5 km open sea by Hunter Iceland.

For Europeans, the island in 1798 by Matthew Flinders and his ship's surgeon George Bass was discovered. Flinders gave the island its name.

In 1978 a large part of the island a nature reserve. She can be reached Tasmania in about 35 min flight time with small aircraft.
