Three roll mill

The three-roll mill (also: three-roll mill ) is in the manufacture of printing inks, the system for venting dispersed in stirred ball mills ink. The apparatus consists of three large cylinders that run at different speeds against each other. The cylinder spacing can be very finely adjusted depending on the model.

The dispersed ink is spread between the first and second rollers ( cylinders).

In the very narrow individually adjustable friction gap results in high frictional forces that are triturated from cylinder 2 to 3 by their different rotational speeds again intense, to eliminate any air pockets and to ensure a homogeneous ink.

In the pharmaceutical formulation field of three-roll mill is used as ' ointment mill ' for deagglomeration and homogenizing of the raw material, but not for chopping. Here too, the ointment is applied between the first two rollers, and finally discharged to a stripper on the second and third roller.

The first roller rotates this the fastest.
