Thung Khru District

Thung Khru ( Thai ทุ่ง ครุ ) is one of the 50 districts (Khet ) of Bangkok, capital of Thailand.

Geography

The neighboring districts are from clockwise from the north: Rat Burana, Amphoe Phra Samut Chedi Phra Pradaeng and Amphoe Samut Prakan province, Bang Khun Thian and Chom Thong.

History

Thung Khru was formed from a part of the district Rat Burana. This was announced on 14 October 1997 and entered into force on 6 March 1998. The name of the district was taken over by Thung Khru Kwaeng, which is one of the two sub-districts today.

Products

The district is known for its Bang Mot tangerine ( in Thai ส้ม บางมด ). Both Thung Khru and Chom Thong each have a sub-district named Bang Mot, both districts will benefit from the fame of the mandarins. (See links )
