Thymus carnosus

Thymus carnosus is a species of the genus of wild thyme (Thymus ) in the mint family.

Description

Thymus carnosus is a small, cushion- forming shrub with plant height of 20 to 40 mm, the upright forms to ascending, woody stems, are tufts of foliage leaves in their axils. These are 5 to 7 mm long and 1-2 mm wide. They are stalked, ovate - lanceolate, fleshy and hairless on the upper surface, tomentose hairs on the underside. The leaf margin is rolled back and ciliated at the base.

The inflorescences are 1-3 cm tall. The bracts are ovate and greenish. The calyx is 3-4 mm long, the calyx tube is bell-shaped, the upper teeth are as long as wide and not ciliated. The crown is whitish.

Occurrence

The species is widespread in the south of Portugal.
