Tiachiv

Tyachiv (Ukrainian Тячів; Russian Тячев / Tjatchew, Ruthenian Тячево, Hungarian TECSO, Romanian Teceu Mare, Slovak Tacovo or Ťačová, Yiddish טעטש ( Tejtsch ), German very rare Großteutschenau ) is a city in the Oblast Transcarpathia in Western Ukraine on the river Tisza. It is the administrative center of the raion Tyachiv. Still belongs to the administrative area of ​​the city, the village Tjatschiwka (Ukrainian Тячівка, Hungarian Kistécső ).

The village was mentioned in 1329 for the first time in writing as TheChew ( Teutschau ), the naming suggests that the place was built in the 11th century as the founding of the German settlers. He was until 1919 part of the county Máramaros the Kingdom of Hungary in 1961 and received a city charter.

The population in 2001 was approximately 9,800, in 2004 was already about 11,000.
