Tidal island

A tidal island (English: Tidal Iceland ) is a piece of land that is connected depending on the height of the tide to the mainland or surrounded by water. In fact, it is at low water a headland or peninsula with a mountain; at high tide the mountain is to the island.

Tidal islands are often sights and tourist attractions. Known tidal islands are Enoshima in Japan, Ko Nang Yuan in Thailand, Lindo and Modo in Korea, Haji Ali Dargah in India, Lindisfarne in England, Eilean Tioram and Oronsay in Scotland, the Brough of Birsay, Orkney, St Patrick 's Isle on the Isle of Man, Omey Iceland in Connemara, Ile de Noirmoutier, Lihou, Ile Molène and the Ile Milliau in France.

The Mont Saint -Michel in Normandy, France and the location of the Sydney Opera House was originally tidal islands, but they were connected in the 19th century with the land.
