Tieffenbrucker

The Tieffenbrucker were a well known family of instrument makers (mainly lutes and Violenbau ). She came from deep Bruck in feet, which was an important center of the lute and violin making. Many family members emigrated to set up in the European cultural capitals, at princely courts and in large commercial cities of workshops and successfully pursue their craft. The emigrant masters often kept still in contact with home. They related partly their wood (especially yew ) further from the Füssen area and journeymen or apprentices followed them out of the home after.

The spelling of the surname varies greatly. The tongues are difficult to pronounce for non- German NameTieffenbrucker was often verballhornt: Deep Brugger, deep Brucker, depths Brugger, Tuiffenbrugger, Deuffenbrugger, Dieffopruchar, Dieffoprughar, Duyfautbrocard, Duiffopruggar, Duiffoprugcar, Dubrocard, Dieffoprukhar, Diafopruchar, Thiphobrucar, Fraburgadi.

  • Father of Michael Hartung, (before 1593 - after 1640 ), lute-makers in Padua, and Venice Roßhaupten
  • Uncle of Christoforo Heberle ( 1546 - before 1621), lute-makers in Venice Wendelin Heberle (1576-1643), lute-makers in Padua and Venice
