Tigerair, before Tiger Airways is a low cost airline based in Singapore and its airport hub at Singapore Changi.

History

Tigerair was founded on 12 December 2003 under the name Tiger Airways and began in September 2004 with the flight operations. It is located as its sister company Tiger Airways Australia, 100 % owned by the holding company Tiger Aviation Group.

The largest shareholder is currently just under 33% of Singapore Airlines. The founder of Ryanair Tony Ryan keeps on holding company Irlandia investment 16 %, other 24 % is owned by Bill Franke about the Indigo Partners LLC. Shares in the amount of 11 % is held by Temasek Holdings. Tigerair has moved the first airline in the Budget Terminal at Changi International Airport in Singapore.

In August 2010, the creation of a new budget airline called Thai Tiger was announced. The joint venture between Thai Airways International and Tigerair should commence flight operations in early 2011. On 17 September 2011 were known to the Thai Airways has abandoned the joint venture with Tiger Airways.

In July 2013 Tiger Airways received its new name Tigerair, with a new corporate design was introduced.

Destinations

Tigerair took over as the first flights of Singapore Airlines that have not been served by that for cost reasons, such as Flights to Macau. Meanwhile, the route network was greatly expanded. The goal of the airline is it possible to control targets in a radius of up to four hours of flight time.

As of August 2013, the fleet of 24 aircraft consists of Tigerair:
